And the beat goes on

So far, I have kept my promise to myself to keep a streak.  For the past ten days, I have written at least 500 words every day.  So I have a ten day streak and a one week streak.  Hooray!

I’m working on a novel right now and I’m having difficulty working on it.  I still manage to squeak out the minimum.  I just started a new short story today.  I don’t want to say too much about it as it will probably be a submission for Writers of the Future.  I’m experimenting with a few things and focusing as much as possible on show, don’t tell.

Speaking of Writers of the Future.  The final batch of Honorable Mentions were posted today.  I was on it as a Silver HM.  I know I should be happy about it, but after five or six HMs, I can only get so excited.  I’m still waiting for that magical phone call.  K.D., Joni?  Are you reading this?  I WILL GET THAT PHONE CALL.  That or I’m just going to have to disqualify myself by publishing all my other stories.

One of my goals this year was to get 100 rejections.  I currently sit at 22 (give or take a few).  I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me.  Until then, off to bed I go.

I am an aspiring writer. I spend most of my time balancing my work, my personal life and my craft. It is my hope that my craft and my work will one day be the same thing and I can spend more time on my personal life. I live with my boyfriend, my insane fluff ball of a cat, and two snakes. In what little spare time I have, I play video games, read, knit, and help out with the local conventions.

I recommend getting at least 25 stories out to markets, then the 100 rejections will pour in no problem (unless, of course, you sell too many, which I’m sure you’d live with) 🙂 I think I hit the 100 rejection mark around the time I had 20-25 stories out. Then I stopped counting 🙂
